Myanmar— A medical team from Nepal, including doctors, is currently providing treatment to injured and sick individuals in Myanmar, which was recently hit by a devastating earthquake.

The team from Nepal departed for the affected area on April 2 carrying medicines and other health supplies. The earthquake, measuring 7.7 on the Richter scale, struck Myanmar on March 28, causing the deaths of over 5,000 people and injuring thousands more.

The Nepal medical team has been stationed in the Yamethin city of the Mandalay region, where they have set up a medical camp. According to the Directorate of Public Relations and Information of the Nepali Army, the number of patients seeking treatment at the camp has been steadily increasing.

The team includes Specialist Surgeon and Technical Lead Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Bikash Bahadur Rayamajhi, Orthopedic Specialist and Technical Lead Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Mohit Thapa, along with other medical officers, nurses, and paramedics.

As per the Directorate, the team has already treated over 700 earthquake victims and distributed essential medical relief supplies. They have performed complex surgeries on more than 60 severely injured patients and provided orthopedic care to over 90 individuals.

Although initially deployed for a week, due to the increasing number of patients, the team has decided to extend their stay for an additional week to continue providing medical services.
