13 Out of 128 Injured in Pro-Monarchy Protest Still Undergoing Treatment

Kathmandu— The Ministry of Health and Population has reported that 13 out of the 128 individuals injured during last Friday’s pro-monarchy protest in Kathmandu’s Tinkune area are still receiving treatment. Among them, 7 have been shot and have serious injuries.

According to the ministry, all critically injured patients have undergone emergency surgeries. Ministry spokesperson Dr. Prakash Budhathoki stated that the injured are being treated at Bir Hospital, National Trauma Center, Patan Hospital, Civil Service Hospital, Kathmandu Medical College Teaching Hospital, and other medical facilities.

The government had previously announced free treatment for those injured in the Tinkune incident. Following this decision, the ministry has instructed hospitals to ensure cost-free medical care. Most of the critically injured individuals are being treated in government hospitals.

Two people died in the protest. Sabin Maharjan succumbed to his injuries while being taken to the Teaching Hospital, while journalist Suresh Rajak died due to burns in a fire set by the protesters.
